Here's your updates on the series, which resumes with Game 2 tonight:

  • Stephen Jackson is a free man... until June 21st.  His trial's start date has been delayed, for the third time.
  • The SF Chronicle also notes that Carl Boozer is, at least according to Matt Barnes, the "strongest dude in the world".   Boozer's 20 rebounds was a huge factor in why the Jazz were able to win a close Game 1.  Andris Biedrins, you may be a skinny mo-fo, but you are lanky... get to it, buddy.  If the Warriors are to win, they need some of those boards.  To get those boards, it's up to Biedrins to tip them out, or do something to stop Boozer from having his way.
  • Deron Williams needs to be shutdown.  That falls upon Baron Davis.  Me think he'll get the job done, too.   During the four regular season games these two teams played, Deron did not top 14 points.  He average 9.0 ppg,  with 8.0 apg (note: that number is skewed, as Deron had 17 of his 32 total assists in a March 20th 104-100 Jazz win; otherwise he averaged 5.0 apg in the other three games).    The last Warriors-Jazz regular game ended in a Warriors blowout (126-102).
  • That last game featured a good boxscore from Stephen Jackson, who was 10-16 on FGA, scoring 28 points.  For the Warriors to win, he has to be at his best, too.
  • And were is Monta Ellis?  Even Al Harrington has shown up (in Game 1) in the playoffs... Monta needs to have an impact.
  • We think Okur is going to continue to thrive in this fast pace offense, if the Jazz choose to continuing running with the Warriors.  Okur will get open looks from behind the arc, and he is deadlier from back there.  Plus he's got a certain clutchness to him.  Actually, so do Boozer and Williams (a little bit), too.  The Jazz are not a team you want to face in a close game; the Warriors have to run them off the court, or it could be tough to win in Utah.
Our call:  We think the Warriors make the needed adjustments, and pull it off tonight.
